Key responsibilities or areas of Expertise:

Dr. Sachin Joshi is a post graduate in Veterinary Medicine and working as Chief Thematic Programme Executive – Animal Genetics, Breeding & Genomics at BAIF Development Research Foundation. Since 2014, he is working in the capacity of Coordinator in implementing the piloting of sorted semen under varied production environment in India and understanding the success rates (conception rates and calf sex ratio) and adoption of sorted semen among the small holder dairy farms in India. He is also engaged in BAIF’s Livestock Genetics work aiming towards Multi-breed and Multi-trait Genomic Selection. He has 23 years of working experience in the area of livestock research and development. In addition, he has notable experience of managing a large organized commercial dairy farm for the captive quality milk production.

 

Achievements:

Dr. Joshi worked more than 15 research and development projects for technology transfer for the better livelihood of rural dairy farmers and projects sponsored by National and International agencies. Dr. Joshi engaged in coordinating and monitoring activities especially in Animal Genetics, Breeding and Genomics at BAIF, Central Research Station Urulikanchan. He is also involved in the piloting of sex sorted semen in India and application of genomic selection. BAIF is working in different 14 states across India and to strengthen the Livestock activities in BAIF working areas technical support given to BAIF Institute for Sustainable Livelihood Development (BISLD) for livestock development programme. Apart from these engaged in monitoring the different project activities and giving support for proposal and report writing to the technical staffs and motivate to technical staffs for efficient and quality project works. Support to senior management in thematic area to strengthen the BAIF field programme across the India.

50 Scientific Research Papers published in National and International Journals. 15+ papers have been presented in workshops / conferences at National and International levels.
