INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATIONS TECHNOLOGY

FOR DEVELOPMENT

Information and Communications Technology (ICT)

BAIF is adopting the latest information and communications technology (ICT) tools to strengthen its field based initiatives. Work on multiple ICT platforms has been taken up to develop a greater connect with people on the ground. In collaboration with Tata Consultancy Services, BAIF has launched the Godhan Seva app powered by mKRISHI® platform, which enables the end-to-end data collection and management of livestock breeding services offered by BAIF.

Calling Rural India

Using ICT for Knowledge Dissemination
Sanvadini, a rural-focussed out-bound call centre operated by rural women, was established at Urulikanchan to offer telephonic value added services to livestock owners, farmers and other members of the rural communities.

Timely information on livestock, seasonal agriculture and latest technologies adopted by BAIF, is provided to the community. Such call centres are now based on cloud telephony and are operational in Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Karnataka and Odisha.

BAIF is also developing e-learning modules on topics of its expertise and offering them through a Learning Management System (LMS). More than 60 courses in Agriculture, Livestock, Community Based Development, Natural Resources Management and Rural Micro Enterprise are live in Hindi, English, Marathi and Oriya on our LMS www.elearning.baif.org.in.

The courses can be taken up on mobile and a completion certificate is issued after completion of the course. The courses are embedded with knowledge checks and questions and answers and supported with webinars and practice sessions.
