BAIF Development Research Foundation is registered under the Bombay Public Trusts Act 1950 and is also recognised as a Scientific Research Organisation.

The BAIF Governance comprises of the Board of Trustees, Board of Management and the Executive Committee (EC).

BAIF Trustees are eminent Administrators, Industrialists, Scientists and Development Professionals with rich experience, who guide the organisation in fulfilling its mission, ensure its technical and financial performance and safeguard its interest and reputation. The members of the Board of Trustees also constitute members of permanent Sub-Committees / Working Committees such as the Executive Committee of BAIF Trustees (ECT), the Finance Committee and the HRD Committee. Some of the Trustees are also Directors on the Board of the BAIF Institute for Sustainable Livelihoods and Development (BISLD), an Associate Organisation of BAIF.

BAIF Institute for Sustainable Livelihoods and Development (BISLD), was established under Section 8 of the Companies Act, 1956, on April 16, 2012 to implement BAIF’s multidisciplinary research and development programmes across four Regions in the country.

Operational Leadership

The Board of Management comprises of the President, Executive Vice President, Group Vice Presidents – Livestock Development, Human Resources and Administration and Finance and Vice Presidents – Programmes. The extended Board comprises of the Regional Directors, Programme Directors, Executive Finance Director and Research Director. The Board meets every quarter to review organizational programmes, decisions, present new proposals and project ideas and suggestions for strengthening the processes and programmes.

The Executive Committee (EC) comprises of the Board of Management, Division Heads, Thematic Heads and State Heads. The EC meets every quarter for cross-learning of experiences.  In every meeting, updates of projects and activities initiated, are provided.

BAIF has also established Core Thematic Groups in the areas of Livestock Husbandry, Natural Resources Management, Resilient Agriculture, Climate Change and Research who independently monitor various projects in their areas and ensure that the projects are technically sound and effective. The Core Thematic Groups are advised by Thematic Advisory Groups.
