Tukaram Gabhale and his wife, Kalawati from Akole Taluka in Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra have gained fame in the region. Realising the gains from mixed farming for nutritional security and better quality of life through enhanced income, this farmer duo are engaged in banana cultivation and raising a kitchen garden of various fruits, vegetables and herbs containing essential nutrients and medicinal value. This family is inspiring many other neighbouring families to improve their prospects.
