WRI India and BAIF Training Module

BAIF in partnership with the WRI India, conducted a series of field studies and impact assessments aimed at reduction of post-harvest losses in the onion supply chain in Maharashtra which was a critical issue affecting farmers’ livelihoods and market efficiency. The major challenges such as the lack of awareness and technical capacity among farmers were identified. BAIF, with the support of the Directorate of Onion and Garlic Research (ICAR-DOGR) and WRI India, organized on-field training sessions, farmer exposure visits and developed a farmer-friendly training manual. The objective of this manual is to enhance farmers’ understanding of post-harvest losses, promote best practices, and improve the quality and marketability of onions. The target audience comprising of small and marginal farmers, including women are expected to benefit from these efforts aimed at food loss reduction and promotion of sustainable agricultural practices.
