BAIF under its Disaster Management Fund, is extending relief measures to affected families including the distribution of essential supplies such as food, water and shelter and establishment of emergency helplines. BAIF is also engaged in rehabilitation measures, with special focus on sustainable livelihoods.

BAIF is associated with the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Government of India as a Technical Institute for drought mitigation initiatives. Integrated and holistic drought mitigation strategies and pilot projects are being developed jointly with the Governments of Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat under NDMA.
