Dr. Bharat Kakade, President and Managing Trustee, BAIF, has been nominated on the Government of India’s apex policy reform institution – NITI Aayog’s Sub-Working Group-4 on “Special Farming Zones” with effect from July 29, 2026.
This thematic Sub-Group has been constituted under the Working Group on “Agricultural Transformation towards Viksit Bharat @2047” to deliberate on identified priority areas and to provide suitable recommendations for consideration of the Working Group. The Working Group will develop a strategic roadmap and actionable recommendations for transforming the agriculture sector through productivity enhancement, value addition, technology adoption, institutional reforms, investment mobilisation, district-level planning and other key interventions.
With his vast experience of three and a half decades in sustainable development and climate-smart farming in diverse agro-climatic zones of the country, the development programmes implemented under the leadership of Dr. Kakade have transformed the lives of millions of smallholder farmers across the country.
