BAIF @ UNCBD COP16, Cali, Colombia
BAIF Development Research Foundation, along with partner organizations from India and across the globe, will be hosting and participating in a series of events at the 16th meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP) to the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity (UNCBD) being held from 21st October to 1st November 2024 at Cali, Colombia.
Established in 1967, BAIF, a civil society organisation of international repute, reaches out annually to 4 million families from 100,000 villages in 15 states of India through livestock, tree and crop-based livelihoods, climate action and rural enterprises. Land degradation neutrality measures, soil health management, agrobiodiversity conservation, promotion of renewable energy, carbon sequestration through agri-horti-forestry and adoption of nature-based practices in agriculture are the major initiatives to provide sustainable livelihood to rural communities while enriching the local ecosystems and ensuring environmental stewardship. The cumulative value of the produce through various programmes of BAIF is more than USD 2.5 billion per annum. The outcomes are directly aligned with a majority of the Sustainable Development Goals.
As a UNCBD-Observer Organization, BAIF looks forward to interacting with like-minded entities for leveraging synergies, exploring opportunities and forging partnerships in Nature-positive solutions for shifting Agri-food Systems with focus on agrobiodiversity conservation, climate actions, circularity and research.
The BAIF Delegation aims to derive strategic insights from global perspectives while learning about emerging paradigms and innovations. BAIF will share successful models during the summit to highlight the scope for replication and scale-up in different geographies.
