Dr. Gyanendra Mani. Chief General Manager, NABARD Regional Office, Dehradun, Uttarakhand, visited the Climate-Smart Actions and Strategies in North Western Himalayan Region for Sustainable Livelihoods of Agriculture-Dependent Hill Communities Project at Champawat supported by NABARD and Adaptation Fund Board and interacted with the participant families. Promotion of various climate-resilient interventions such as rejuvenation of natural springs, rain water harvesting structures, protected cultivation, Improved horticulture, improved livestock management practices, fodder development and strengthening of community-based institutions have resulted in 800 families being benefitted from the establishment of a vegetable hub and protected cultivation using low-cost bamboo poly house, drip irrigation and cultivation of high-value vegetables. Greater impact has been created in terms of availability of water, fodder, biodiversity and productivity enhancement.
